Is the Erha Manhua Finished? Where the Kuaikan Comic Ends

Is the Erha manhua finished? Kuaikan Manhua says so. The official Chinese comic of The Husky and His White Cat Shizun now carries the label 已完结, "completed," over 72 story episodes. But the story doesn't finish. The last episode is dated January 26, 2024, and it stops long before the novel's ending, so treat the comic as an opening act, not a way to finish Erha.

Is the Erha Manhua Finished on Kuaikan?

On the series page the line under the episode list reads "已完结 | 共77个内容 | 72篇正文": completed, 77 items, 72 of them story episodes. The other five are a July 2021 "coming in August" teaser, two character specials, a May 2022 note announcing a second season, and an April 2024 special announcement. The page still pulls a crowd, with 2.34 million follows and 460,000 comments.

The comic came out in bursts. The first three episodes arrived together, then roughly two a month until episode 19 in April 2022. It went quiet for three months, came back in July 2022 as its "second season," stopped again over the 2022 winter, and from July 2023 ran mostly weekly until the last one. Then nothing.

Logged out on Kuaikan's mobile site, episode 1 opened for us with no pay prompt. We saw the cover, the credits page and the first scene, a village under autumn leaves with one speech bubble, "听说了吗？" ("Have you heard?"), and that was as far as the page loaded. The last episode wants KK coins first, "应版权方要求" ("at the rights holder's request").

The credits page of episode 1 also carries a warning worth knowing before you start: to keep each episode's pacing, the adaptation makes "一些适当的删改," some cuts and changes to the novel. So even the episodes you do get aren't the novel panel for panel.

The novel the comic adapts is complete in English.

Why the Erha Manhua Stopped

Kuaikan gives no reason. What the episodes do show is how often the lead artist changed. We opened the credits page of six episodes. The 主笔 (lead artist) line names 絮桉 on episode 1, 土司猫饼 YEp on episode 20, 在别墅里吃点好的 on episodes 35 and 59, and 救火队长小方方 on episodes 69 and 72, where the previous lead is credited for revisions. The scriptwriter, 祝典, is the same on all six.

Readers noticed the turnover before it stopped. In November 2023, u/LtTawnyMadison wrote on r/DanmeiNovels that "the latest (5th?) artist for the 2ha manhua has also been bullied off of that project." Not everyone bought the bullying story. u/dotblot replied, "Seems like manhua publisher problem than being bullied by reader," and u/zoelion pointed out that two lead artists of other comics on the same platform had announced their departures that day, one citing "harsh working condition and disputes with KK."

The last official sign of life was a special. On April 2, 2024, Kuaikan added a post titled "特典祈愿·4月9日 长阶血未尽篇 虐心而来~", a teaser for an April 9 special. Two days later a fan posted the teaser video on r/2HA_immortality, and u/Junnielocked added, "They brought back the previous VAs who voiced the manhua animated version before."

A reader in that November 2023 thread later mentioned "special manhua chapters" in May 2024 that were "purchase locked," made for Mo Ran's birthday. They aren't in the main episode list, and no story episode came after 72. Readers under the last episode are still asking "能不能再更更" ("can you please update more?"), and one guesses "好像是版权到期了" ("it seems the rights expired"). That's a commenter's guess, not anything Kuaikan has said.

Where to Read Erha After the Erha Manhua

If you finished the comic and want the rest, go to the novel. Seven Seas finished the English edition in 11 volumes this March; is Erha finished in English covers what each volume holds and why the Chinese original is locked on JJWXC. The Japanese manga that was supposed to be a second shot at a comic was called off in August, before a chapter appeared; see the Erha manga cancellation.

Our Take

Start the Erha manhua if you want to see the opening of the story drawn, and go in knowing you're signing up for an opening act. Kuaikan's "completed" label is accurate about the listing and misleading about the story: nothing on that page will take you to the ending. If the comic hooked you, don't wait for another episode. Pick up Seven Seas' first volume, or if you want something finished in the same register first, our binge list of finished danmei is a better place to start.

How We Checked This

On October 21, 2026 we opened the Kuaikan Manhua mobile series page for 二哈和他的白猫师尊 logged out, and took the status, the episode count and every episode's date from the page's own data. We opened episodes 1 and 72, and the credits pages of episodes 1, 20, 35, 59, 69 and 72. We have not read the 72 episodes; logged out, we saw only the opening of episode 1. Reader quotes come from the two Reddit threads linked below, pulled through the Arctic Shift archive, and from the comments under episode 72 on Kuaikan.
