A Will Eternal Donghua vs Novel: Where to Start Reading

The A Will Eternal donghua is in its final season, and it has about 470 chapters of Er Gen's novel to fit into 46 episodes. If you finished Season 3, open the book at chapter 845 instead of waiting for Tencent's ending in 2027. The novel is complete in English on Wuxiaworld.

Where the A Will Eternal Donghua Is Now

Tencent Video had released 16 of the final season's 46 episodes by October 24, 2026. Baidu Baike's season record numbers them episodes 166 to 211: the season opened on July 22 with three episodes, then one a week at 10:00 on Wednesdays, the same rhythm as every season before it. Season 1 started on August 12, 2020, Season 2 on July 20, 2022 and Season 3 on July 3, 2024.

The page line reads 更新至16集/全46集: "updated to episode 16 of 46." Members get each episode on Wednesday, and since July 28 the top SVIP tier sees it on Tuesday at 18:00. Thirty episodes are left. At one a week with no breaks, the last one lands in May 2027.

Tencent put out the release date on June 22 with the line "7月22日起，每周三10点更新，首播三集连播" (weekly from July 22 at 10:00 on Wednesdays, three episodes on day one). Its PV is on the official channel:

Where the A Will Eternal Donghua Leaves You in the Novel

Season 3 stops near chapter 846, "The Hell-Emperor's Successor," at the end of Book 5. Its last episode, EP165, carries the official title 白小纯身份被揭穿，即将成为新任冥皇: Bai Xiaochun's identity is exposed and he is about to become the new Hell-Emperor (the r/Donghua launch thread calls it the Netherworld Emperor). The final season opens on that succession, according to the poster who started that thread.

The novel's chapter 846 opens on the same question. Wuxiaworld's free teaser says the Grand Heavenmaster and the other most powerful figures weren't sure "whether the Hell-Emperor would arrange for Bai Xiaochun to continue to use the identity of Bai Hao," and that "having someone named Bai Hao as the next Hell-Emperor would resolve many issues."

Start at chapter 845, "Shaking The Wildlands," one chapter early. You may reread the end of Season 3, but you won't miss the start of the final season. Book 6 begins ten chapters later with "Journey Of Three" (855) and the bone galleon (856), and "River-Defying Sect In Peril" follows at 857. That's our match by chapter titles, not a chart from Tencent; the studio publishes none.

What the Final Season Covers

The final season reaches the novel's last book, going by Tencent's synopsis: Bai Xiaochun fights "Tongtian Daoist," and "with the old world shattered, the group is scattered across the Eternal Continent beyond the heavens." That points to Book 7. Wuxiaworld's translation calls the villain Daoist Heavenspan, and chapter 1,029, the first of "The Eternal Immortal Domains," opens: "Half a year had already gone by since the destruction of the Heavenspan Realm."

On launch day, some viewers expected it to stop earlier. In the r/Donghua launch thread, u/MedicalAssumption579 guessed "the season is gonna end with his fight with Daoist Heavenspan," and u/Atharaphelun agreed it was "a natural cut-off point." Tencent's synopsis reaches past that fight.

That's the problem with the A Will Eternal donghua's last season. From chapter 845 to the last chapter of the main story is 470 chapters, roughly ten per episode. u/NNL_THE_BOSS did the same sum on launch day and concluded the season "will be rushed like no other, or it will have to skip major events."

What Viewers Say About the Pace

Six episodes in, some viewers were already counting cuts. u/Zealousideal-Toe4276 called episode 6 a letdown, saying the studio "skipped the entire part where bai xiaochun makes the pill," and predicted they would "fit even the eternal continent in these 46 episodes." Tencent's synopsis points the same way.

Not everyone minds. In the same thread, u/According-Moment3847 said they had "been really enjoying it." We'd still take the book for this stretch: the scenes viewers say are cut are the ones only the novel has room for.

Where to Watch the A Will Eternal Donghua in English

In English, it's Tencent's official YouTube channel, Tencent Video-ANIMATION, and most of the final season sits behind its channel membership. EP166 is free there. Every later episode we checked, up to the newest upload, EP181, asked us to join the channel before it would play. The PV's description sends viewers to a WeTV membership for "exclusive episodes."

WeTV's own web player still listed the show "To EP 165" when we opened it on October 24, so the final season wasn't on it for us. Viewers noticed in August: u/beeskneecap wrote that "they haven't even posted the new episodes on WeTV." JustWatch says the show "is not available for streaming in the United States."

For catching up, the channel's Season 3 compilation (EP107 to EP165, about 15 hours, English subtitles) and the Season 3 finale were free when we checked. Uploads from the first two seasons in the same playlist showed "Video unavailable" for us. One warning from r/Donghua: u/daemos360 found that "the YouTube subs aren't great for this one."

Our Take

Watch the donghua through Season 3 if you want Bai Xiaochun's fear of death animated. Then switch to the novel where that season ends. The final season has to pack about ten chapters into every episode, and viewers have already started listing cuts. The book is finished, it's official, and two free chapters every 23 hours will get you further than one episode a week. How We Checked This

On October 24, 2026 we opened Wuxiaworld's A Will Eternal page and read the free teasers of chapters 846, 855, 856 and 1,029 (logged out; the rest of each chapter is locked). We went through chapter titles 799 to the Epilogue on Wuxiaworld Lite to line them up with the final season's opening. We also opened Tencent Video's final-season page, Baidu Baike's season record, the official PV and the Tencent Video-ANIMATION playlist, checking which uploads would play. Then we opened WeTV's player, JustWatch US and five r/Donghua threads. We haven't watched the final season. What it covers comes from Tencent's synopsis, the official episode titles and the viewers quoted above.
