Renegade Immortal Donghua: Watch Order and Novel Chapter

The Renegade Immortal donghua has one trap in its watch order: the movie Slaying the Blood Progenitor goes between episodes 151 and 152, even though EP152 came out two months before it. If you're caught up at EP164 and don't want to wait for Mondays, the novel picks up around chapter 823 on Wuxiaworld, and it's finished.

Updated October 26, 2026: EP164 is out. The chapter match, the table and the episode count now run to EP164; earlier versions stopped at EP163 and chapter 820.

The show adapts Er Gen's Renegade Immortal (Xian Ni, 仙逆), and our Renegade Immortal review judges the book. This page is only about the show: the order to watch it in, which chapter each recent episode reaches, and where to watch it officially. We haven't watched the episodes. The chapter matches come from Tencent's official episode titles, lined up against Wuxiaworld's chapter titles and free teasers.

Renegade Immortal Donghua Watch Order

Watch the episodes in number order with one stop: after EP151, watch the movie, then go on to EP152. Tencent's synopsis puts the film in the Thunder Celestial Realm, where Wang Lin is "pushed to the absolute brink of death" by his sworn enemy and ends with "slaying a celestial." That's the fight the episodes skip.

1. EP1 to EP151. The weekly series premiered on Tencent Video on September 25, 2023, made by Build Dream Animation.
2. Optional: Battle of the Gods (神临之战). The first feature-length special premiered on May 30, 2025. On r/Donghua, u/OneAttention2623 calls it "a non-canon movie" and says it is "recommended to be watched between episode 76 and 77." Tencent's date teaser billed it as 重返修魔海域, a return to the Xiu Mo sea.
3. Slaying the Blood Progenitor (弑仙之战), after EP151. It came out on October 1, 2026 at 12:00 (UTC+8) in the WeTV / Tencent Video (US) app.
4. EP152 to EP164. EP164 was the newest episode on Tencent Video and Tencent's YouTube playlist when we checked on October 26, with EP165's trailer already up.

You can skip the rest of Tencent's Renegade Immortal shelf. It also lists a 6-episode recap (速览版), a 12-part compilation (合集篇) and a 10-episode spin-off (逆仙客栈), which Tencent files as a side story.

Why EP152 Came Out Before the Movie

EP152 aired first because the movie was late. By August 2, 2026, EP152 was out and the film wasn't, and viewers who watched in number order met a much stronger Wang Lin with no explanation. u/Successful_Tip8533 asked why he "is suddenly in corporeal yang realm" when the previous episode had him at Ascendant great perfection. The top answer, from u/AggnogPOE, said there is "a movie between the two episodes." u/KnightKal put it in one line: "151 -> movie (not released) -> 152."

Some viewers simply waited. u/mxldevs wrote that they "waited 2 months for the movie to release before continuing with 152." If you're starting now, there's nothing to wait for: the movie is out, so watch it in its slot.

Which Novel Chapter the Renegade Immortal Donghua Reaches

After EP164, the Renegade Immortal donghua is around chapters 823 to 824 of the novel. Tencent titles EP164 王林身陷围剿，如何破此杀劫？, "Wang Lin is surrounded: how does he break this deadly trap?", and its trailer 重赏之下，尽是索命来客, "with a big bounty out, everyone comes for his life." The teaser of chapter 823, "Yao Changdong," has Wang Lin cutting down the cultivators around him ("There are still 22 people!"), and chapter 824 says they were "tempted by the reward the Yao family offered." Start at chapter 823.

Tencent publishes no chapter map. We matched the official episode titles on its YouTube playlist (and, where they say more, the trailer titles) to Wuxiaworld's chapter titles and teasers. Treat every row as an estimate, give or take one episode.

Two viewers who know the book land close to our range for the movie. u/Whoever_Mesa guessed it "covers chapters 755 to 772," and u/A_Valley_Away put EP152's start at "770/771."

By our table, the show covered about 88 chapters from EP148 to EP164, roughly five per episode with the movie counted in. About 1,270 chapters are left after chapter 823. At that pace and one episode a week, the donghua has years of Mondays ahead of it. The book doesn't.

Readers also say the show compresses. u/Heavy_Test_7315 wrote that Wang Lin "jumping 14 levels is an error of the donghua," because "the character has to work for every level in the novel."

Where to Watch the Renegade Immortal Donghua

Officially, the Renegade Immortal donghua is on Tencent Video in China, the WeTV app (Tencent Video (US) in the US) and Tencent's YouTube channel, 腾讯视频 - 动漫 (Tencent Video-ANIMATION). The channel's descriptions read "Updates every Monday | Member Premiere" and, in Chinese, 每周一更新1集，会员抢先看2集: one episode every Monday, with members two episodes ahead. They point viewers to "Watch the Official Full version on WeTV App/ Tencent Video (US)!"

On Tencent Video the series is rated 9.4, and the episode buttons from 2 on carry a VIP badge. The YouTube playlist lists full episodes up to EP164, and the recent uploads are labelled 会员抢先看, members' early access. None of the 15 full episodes and compilations we tried on YouTube would play for us ("Video unavailable"), EP164 included, while the EP163 and EP165 trailers came up as public. Check your own region before you plan a binge there.

The movie is app-only. Tencent's PV says it is "Streaming Exclusively on the WeTV / Tencent Video (US) App":

Viewers split on whether it was worth the wait. u/Atharaphelun never expected it to be more than "a couple of regular episodes joined together in a movie format." u/GnimshTV disagreed: "the movie quality was much higher than the regular TV episodes." We'd still watch it in order, because EP152 makes little sense without it.

A third film is coming. Tencent lists 仙逆院线剧场版, a cinema release, as open for reservation. The r/Donghua user who shared its PV titled it "Seven Moves To Slay The Heaven," dated it 2027 and tied it to "novel Chapter 1354," far past where the series is now.

Our Take

Watch the Renegade Immortal donghua in number order with the movie after EP151, and skip the recap, compilation and spin-off entries. Once you reach EP164, switch to the novel at chapter 823 rather than wait. The show moves about five chapters an episode; the book is complete in English, and two free chapters every 23 hours on Wuxiaworld will take you past the next arc long before Tencent gets there. How We Checked This

On October 24, 2026 we opened Tencent Video's search page for 仙逆, the full-episode playlist and the uploads list on the official Tencent Video-ANIMATION YouTube channel, and the descriptions of the movie PVs and the EP163 and EP164 trailers. We tried 14 full episodes and compilations with yt-dlp; none would play for us. On Wuxiaworld, logged out, we opened the series page and read the free teasers of chapters 736, 750, 751, 761, 765, 768 to 770, 784, 793, 802 to 804, 806, 810, 813, 816 and 819 to 823 (the rest of each chapter is locked). We also read Wikipedia's Renegade Immortal article and eight r/Donghua threads. On October 26 we checked again: Tencent Video's search page, the playlist (now to EP164), the channel's uploads (the EP165 trailer), EP164 itself (also "Video unavailable" for us) and the teasers of chapters 824 and 827. On October 28 the playlist still ended at EP164. We haven't watched the episodes or either movie, so the chapter matches come from titles and teasers and carry a margin of one episode.
