Seven Seas Licenses Danmei Novel Seizing Dreams for 2026

Seizing Dreams, the Fei Tian Ye Xiang novel Seven Seas licensed in January 2026, has its first English volume dated December 1, 2026, at $19.99. The series page plans seven volumes and dates two of them, and the Chinese original is complete. If you've read Legend of Exorcism in English and want the author's modern-day side, this is the one coming soonest.

What Seven Seas Announced for Seizing Dreams

Seven Seas posted the license on January 14, 2026, crediting the author as Arise Zhang, also known as Fei Tian Ye Xiang. The announcement promised a November 2026 release in large-trim paperback at $19.99 USA / $26.99 CAN. The series page has since filled in the day, which has already moved once, and added the second volume, on March 16, 2027.

Update (October 16, 2026): Seven Seas moved Vol. 1 from November 17 to December 1, 2026 on its series page and danmei schedule. That is the date Penguin Random House, which distributes Seven Seas' print books, already listed, so the publisher and the distributor now agree. Earlier versions of this article gave November 17.

The Seizing Dreams Story

Yu Hao is a poor, closeted college student who gets blamed when a stolen watch turns up in his backpack. At his lowest point he wakes in a realm where dreams are battlefields and meets the General, a faceless knight who fights beside him night after night. Each win changes his waking life, where his instructor Chen Yekai and his classmate Zhou Sheng turn into allies, and Yu Hao starts to suspect one of them is the knight.

That's a different register from Fei Tian Ye Xiang's historical fantasy. JJWXC files 夺梦 as an original modern-day romance and marks it complete at 926,967 characters. Seven Seas still tags the English edition as fantasy, which fits a book where half the fighting happens inside dreams.

There's also a screen version you can't watch yet. A live-action adaptation called Dreamcatcher wrapped filming in 2022 and, as of DanmeiNews' January report, still hadn't been released.

How Readers Took the Cover

The real cover went up in July, and the r/DanmeiNovels thread split between excitement and volume-count nerves. "The only thing that intimidates me is that it’s 7 volumes," wrote u/cangjis, who said they like Fei Tian's writing and would give it a chance. u/morningYard2000, who says they've read it, pushed back: "it reads SO fast!" And one reader thought the art gave too much away: "I was expecting The General on the cover rather than Zhou Sheng this early. Feels slightly spoilerific for those who haven't read it before."

Our Take

Seizing Dreams is the one we'd pick from Seven Seas' 2026 danmei licenses if you want something this year: a known author, a finished original and a date only weeks away. The length is the real question. At one volume every four months on the current schedule, the full English run will take years, so start now only if you're happy reading it as it comes out. Don't expect a special edition, either: Seven Seas lists only the standard paperback, and DanmeiNews thought one unlikely.
