How Our Web Novel Reviews Work
Every review here starts from the novel's own platform page, not from memory. We record the chapter count, status, rating and tags on the date we check, quote named reader reviews from that page (with what they recommend and what they complain about), and add community discussion where readers have actually argued about the book. The score is our verdict on those facts; the method is on how we score.
Take Last Gun Alchemist. On October 23, 2026 its Webnovel page showed "676 Chapters" and a rating of "3.86" from "143 ratings". Its reader reviews split hard: one reader wrote "I recommend this novel to Action fantasy lovers", while another complained that "there's no gun action in chapter 1 to 34". A review that leaves out either side is not much use to you.

What Readers Say
Readers weigh more than the story. In an r/noveltranslations thread recommending Last Gun Alchemist, one commenter said "the problem with original works has always been sudden ghosting by the authors", and another answered: "I only read completed works for originals nowadays." That is why our reviews always state whether a novel is completed or ongoing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do your ratings come from?
Platform ratings (like Webnovel's reader rating for Last Gun Alchemist above) are quoted from the platform page with the date; our own score is a separate verdict, explained on how we score.
Do you finish every novel before reviewing it?
No. Reviews are built from the platform page, its reader reviews and community discussion, and they say so; they do not claim a full read-through.
Are web novel reviews spoiler-free?
We skip spoiler text in quoted reader reviews; reading guides and ending explainers are marked separately.
Why do some reviews mention completed versus ongoing?
Because readers care: an ongoing original can stop updating, which is exactly what the Reddit commenters above worry about.
Our Take
