Review at a glance

Warlock of the Magus World arcs are easiest to follow through Wuxiaworld's own six-arc split, so this guide uses the platform's chapter list and the chapter pages themselves, not a fan-made map.

TL;DR: Wuxiaworld splits the novel into six arcs: Transmigration, Twilight Zone, Morning Star Chronicles, Passage of Bloodlines, World of Gods, and Final War. They end at chapters 287, 391, 628, 786, 1,043, and 1,200, with an Author's Afterword after that. The chapters separate aptitude grades, Warlock ranks and noble titles, and readers say the story changes once Leylin reaches rank 1.

Wuxiaworld lists Warlock of the Magus World as Completed at 1,201 chapters, by The Plagiarist (文抄公), translated by OMA, licensed from Yuewen, which Wikipedia's article on Chinese online literature describes as the 2015 merger of Shanda and Tencent Literature, "also known as China Literature Limited." The page tags it Chinese, Fantasy, Alchemy, Political Intrigue and Mature. We opened the series page, its chapter list and 16 chapter pages on October 10, 2026, and every arc boundary below comes from that list.

Warlock of the Magus World Arcs: The Six Official Arcs

The short answer: six arcs, numbered 1 to 6 on the Chapters tab. Each arc's list shows its newest chapter first, so the top entry is where that arc ends. The table pairs each boundary with the chapter title Wuxiaworld gives it.

ArcName on WuxiaworldChaptersLengthLast chapter title
1Transmigration1 to 287287"Teleportation"
2Twilight Zone288 to 391104"Planning For The Afterlife"
3Morning Star Chronicles392 to 628237"Clone Creation"
4Passage of Bloodlines629 to 786158"Arrangement"
5World of Gods787 to 1,043257"Farm"
6Final War1,044 to 1,200157"The Finale"

The openings line up with the breaks. Chapter 288, "Injury," starts with Leylin's bones cracking "Under the pressure of the space tearing", right after chapter 287's "Teleportation". Chapter 392 is titled "The Central Continent". Chapter 787 is "Truesoul Splitting", and chapter 1,044, the first of Final War, is simply "Magus".

The lengths are uneven. Twilight Zone is the shortest at 104 chapters, and Transmigration the longest at 287. That matters for planning: the first arc alone is almost a quarter of the novel.

When Each Arc Finished in English

The chapter list also dates every entry. Reading the date beside each arc's last chapter gives a rough history of the translation:

  • Transmigration ended with chapter 287 on 2016.10.31.
  • Twilight Zone ended with chapter 391 on 2017.02.03.
  • Morning Star Chronicles ended with chapter 628 on 2017.05.17.
  • Passage of Bloodlines ended with chapter 786 on 2017.07.03.
  • World of Gods ended with chapter 1,043 on 2017.09.24.
  • Final War ended with chapter 1,200 on 2017.12.07, and the Author's Afterword followed on 2017.12.15.

Put another way, chapter 628 is dated 2017.05.17 and chapter 1,200 is dated 2017.12.07: the last three arcs, 572 chapters, fit into under seven months on that list.

The Rank Ladder: What the Chapters Say

Searches mix three different ladders together. The chapters keep them apart.

Aptitude grades. Chapter 14, "Aptitude Test," sorts acolytes into five grades "with the first grade as the worst and the fifth grade as the best." The odds of becoming a Magus fall fast: the fifth grade has "a 90 percent chance", the fourth "a 50 percent chance", the third "a ten percent chance", the second "only a 2 to 3 percent chance", and the first "only a 1 percent or even 0.1 percent chance." Leylin tests as third grade, with "the highest affinity with the Dark and Shadow elements".

Warlock ranks. Chapter 123 is titled "Rank 1 Warlock", which gives you a rank milestone you can find by title alone. Rank numbers keep climbing from there; chapter 629's teaser has Leylin reacting to "The rank 5 Kemoyin Emperor bloodline", which shows that bloodlines carry rank numbers too.

Noble titles. Chapter 398 explains that the Ouroboros Clan copies feudal nobility: "Rank 1 Warlocks were Barons, rank 2 were Viscounts, rank 3 were Earls." It adds a twist: "if Giant Kemoyin Serpent Warlocks reached rank 3, they would immediately gain the title of Marquis!" So a title tells you rank and bloodline at once.

Keep these apart in your notes. "Third grade" is aptitude, "rank 3" is power, and "Earl" is a social title that follows from rank.

What Readers Say About the Warlock of the Magus World Arcs

Readers mostly measure the early pacing by rank, not by arc. In a February 2023 r/noveltranslations thread asking whether the novel gets better, the original poster was "in the first like 30-40 chapters" and struggling. The replies split.

  • Zekuro: "it definitely becomes different once he gets to rank 1 magus".
  • Get_a_Grip_comic: "it takes like 100 chapters till he actually becomes a warlock".
  • Rayzer_19: "You just gotta read that first 120ish chapters".
  • Conscious_Ad_9684 set a later bar: "read it untill he becomes a lvl 2 mage. if you don't like it by then, read something else."
  • On the other side, cluster_ wrote "It doesn't get better", and xThoth19x called the plot "decent if repetitive".

Those reader estimates match the platform: "Rank 1 Warlock" is chapter 123, inside the first arc. If chapter 123 has not hooked you, the next two arc breaks are at 287 and 391.

The three reader reviews shown on the Wuxiaworld page are all Recommended, but they disagree on the last arc. cbeas8 says "the quality doesn't decline over time or towards the end" and found the ending "quite satisfying". wievo's "only critique is the very obviously rushed ending", calling it "short" with explanations "lacking". Modsan warns that Leylin is "an immoral character who will do anything".

Our Take

Our take rests on the chapter list, the chapter pages and the reader comments cited above. The six arcs are the right way to plan this novel, but the first one is the real test: Transmigration runs 287 chapters, almost a quarter of the book, and the chapter titled "Rank 1 Warlock" arrives at 123. Several readers in the Reddit thread describe a slow start, one was "really bored in the beginning", and they disagree on whether it pays off.

So set two checkpoints. Read to chapter 123; if Leylin's rank 1 breakthrough does not change your mind, the next 164 chapters of the same arc probably will not either. If it does, plan by arc from there. The ending splits the reviewers who finished it, with cbeas8 calling it "quite satisfying" and wievo calling it rushed, so do not pick this novel for the finale alone.

Step-by-Step

1. Start at chapter 1. Open Warlock of the Magus World on Wuxiaworld. Chapter 1 is titled "Reincarnation" and opens the Transmigration arc.

2. Read chapter 14 for the aptitude rules. The aptitude test chapter sets out the five grades the rest of the ladder builds on.

3. Use chapter 123 as your first checkpoint. It is titled "Rank 1 Warlock", which is where readers in the Reddit thread say the story changes.

4. Bookmark by arc. Note which of the six arcs you are in and the last chapter you finished, using the end chapters in the table above.

5. Keep three ladders in separate notes. Aptitude grade, Warlock rank and noble title are different things, and bloodlines carry rank numbers of their own.

6. Reassess at each arc break. Chapters 287, 391 and 628 are natural stopping points. For pacing advice that avoids later spoilers, see the Warlock of the Magus World Reading Guide.

What the Arc Split Does Not Tell You

An arc name is a label, not a summary. "World of Gods" and "Final War" hint at scale but do not say who wins or what Leylin gives up. Most chapter pages show only a short teaser without a login, so this guide stops at titles and opening lines. The last teaser, chapter 1,200 "The Finale", opens on "a place created by two World Wills", and that is as far as we go. For a verdict on whether the whole run is worth it, read the Warlock of the Magus World Review.

Tips for Avoiding Rank and Arc Spoilers

  • Search a chapter title, not "Leylin rank 9," when you want a milestone.
  • Treat any chapter number from a third-party site as approximate until you have opened that chapter.
  • Remember that "rank 5" can mean a Warlock or a bloodline.
  • Keep the six arc names in your notes; they are the only official landmarks.

The arc split turns a 1,201-chapter read into six stretches of 104 to 287 chapters each. If you only want a target, aim for the next arc break and decide there.

How We Checked This

We used 19 sources, all opened on October 10, 2026: the Wuxiaworld series page and its Chapters tab (arc lists and dates), 16 chapter pages (1, 14, 123, 190, 287, 288, 391, 392, 398, 628, 629, 786, 787, 1,043, 1,044 and 1,200), one r/noveltranslations thread, read in full through its RSS feed, and Wikipedia's article on Chinese online literature for the Yuewen licensor. Reddit comments are quoted as reader opinion. An earlier version cited a fan wiki for rank names; it could not be reopened, so those claims were removed.
